We are all unhappy when it comes to driving on an uneven road surface with potholes and bumps so why would you park your car on a driveway that is in the same condition. Your driveway is one of the most used parts of your home so it is important that it is looked after and kept in good condition not only for your car and for safety but also to ensure that your home looks the best it possibly can.

Here at Allmac we have put together some information to provide you with ideas of when and why it is time to resurface your tarmac driveway and the signs to look out for.

  1. Cracks on the surface – Cracks on the surface are a clear sign it is time to start thinking of replacing the tarmac driveway or at least carry out a repair. Cracks usually tend to appear after a long time of the driveway being laid or the continued use of very heavy vehicles. Cracks not only are not the best to look at but also can cause further damage. If oils, salt etc get through the gaps into the foundation of your drive this will increase the size of the cracks and cause further damage.
  2. Potholes – Potholes are a major sign that the tarmac driveway needs to be replaced or repaired. These occur from wear and tear and can be down to extreme weather. Potholes can cause damage to a cars wheels and suspension, so it is important not to drive over them.
  3. Drainage issues – If your tarmac driveway is starting to pool surface water and not drain this can increase the risk of flooding to the driveway. This will cause weak spots, cracks and potholes as well as not looking great. Poor drainage is a sign that it is time to get someone to look at your tarmac driveway.
  4. Weeds – If weeds begin to grow though your tarmac driveway it shows it is in bad repair if they are coming through the middle of the tarmac. It could be a sign the tarmac driveways foundations are damaged.
  5. Aesthetic appeal – This sounds simple but if your driveway isn’t looking as good as it should this is also a sign for resurfacing needs.

If you have a tarmac driveway and have noticed any of the above contact us at Allmac today and one of our experts will be happy to assess your driveway and give advice on any repairs or resurfacing needs.
